We regret to announce the passing of the co-founder of our company, “S. MAVIDOU & SONS G.P. – GALAXY FOODS”, Nikos Mavidis.
Mr. Nikos was born and raised in Ano Poli (Dioikitirio), to refugee parents from Pontus. Like many young people of his generation, he began working from an early age while simultaneously attending the Evening Commercial School of the Thessaloniki Chamber of Commerce and Industry (EBETH).
After completing his studies, he worked as a sales representative in the mid-1950s for a car dealership, later served in the merchant navy, and in the mid-1960s founded his own food distribution business in the center of Thessaloniki. In 1969, together with his wife, chemical foreman, Sotiria Mavidou, he established the eponymous juice production and bottling company, which later evolved into today’s GALAXY FOODS.
His principles, values, and passion for creation remain an integral part of the culture of GALAXY FOODS and continue to serve as a guiding compass for ongoing growth and improvement.
